The Rock

The Rock was originally named Windgap Elementary School and its construction began in 1898. The building was completed in 1903 and opened as an elementary school for the McKees Rocks Sheraden School District.

After nearly 40 years, the school became too small for the district, leading to the construction of a larger facility down the street. Recognizing the rich history of education within these walls, we wanted to preserve its legacy. That’s why we transformed the basement into a cooking and painting school, ensuring that learning and creativity continue to thrive in this historic space.
